Betsy graduated from Florida Atlantic University with an MSW (Master of Social Work) and received her CAP (Certified Addictions Professional) education from the University of Miami.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and is formally trained & certified in EMDR, the “Gold-Standard” for the treatment of PTSD, a common diagnosis in the addicted population.

Betsy has worked in the field of addiction for eighteen years as a behavioral health tech, group facilitator, case manager and primary therapist.

Group Work is one of Betsy’s specialties.  Her extensive experience includes psychodrama and the ‘empty chair’ technique to experientially access and process trauma as well as addiction.

She has experience in various levels of care including residential, PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program), IOP (Intensive Outpatient), After-Care and Transitional living.  Betsy held the position of EMDR Therapist EMDR Therapist in a treatment center and  she was a primary therapist in a nationally recognized treatment center and maintains a private practice in Palm Beach Gardens.

She has studied and practices the therapeutic models of Schema Therapy, EMDR Therapy, & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and applies the principals of Attachment Theory to the healing process of trauma resolution. 

Betsy’s expertise is in Dissociative Disorders, Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, Eating Disorders, Body Image Issues and Personality Disorders.

She firmly believes that her training must be ongoing throughout her career to keep up with the complexities of her clients’ issues.

Betsy is both bi-cultural and bi-lingual having lived in South America for over 26 years in the Diplomatic/Expatriate Community.
