The Palm Beach County Medical So ciety (PBCMS) is issuing a Call for Abstracts for its Poster Symposium, as part of the 2020 State of Medicine Dinner at the Airport Hilton on Thursday, January 30, 2020. The objective for the poster presentations is to offer students, residents, fellows, and other p hysician scholars an opportunity to share significant research and interest ing clinical vignettes with their fellow clinicians. We encourage all of ou r colleagues to participate in this educational program by submission of an abstract and application.
Rules and Guidelines for Abstract Submission: Eligibility: Applicant must be a member of PBCMS. If a pplicant is not a member at the time of submission, membership must be comp leted before January 20, 2020 or the entry will be inadmis sible. Applicant must be a student enrolled in a Florida allopathic or oste opathic medical school, a resident or fellow in an accredited training prog ram in Palm Beach County. Poster may be original or previously published. p>
Criteria for Selection: Research abstracts should con
tain the background, research question, protocol, methods, results and conc
lusions. The research can be either basic science or clinical research. Cli
nical vignettes should be pertinent and timely. Notification by e-mail of a
bstract application acceptance or rejection will be sent via email by
< strong>Set-up and Dismantling: The poster must be placed in the sp ace provided by 2pm on Thursday, January 30, 2020. It is p ermissible for non authors to hang posters if necessary. If you require ass istance, please contact Deanna Lessard at PBCMS at 561-433-3940 ext. 105. A ll posters must be left up for display until the dinner is over that evenin g January 30, 2020. Please m ake arrangements with PBCMS office or your program coordinator if you aren’ t able to stay for the entire dinner and take your poster down.
< p>On-site Judging, Awards Ceremony, and Cash Prizes: Poste r presentation applications are judged through an evaluation process which consists of the following criteria: value to the medical profession; scient ific and/or informational content; consistency with PBCMS policy; ethical c onsideration; non promotional/noncommercial in nature; and appropriate desi gn. Judging will occur on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 2:30 – 5: 30 pm. Winners will be announced prior to the evening’s dinner.Note: In order to qualify for the awards, presenters must be pr esent during judging.
