Resident and Medical Student Poster Symposium 

The PBCMS Committee on Medical Education is excited to announce the Call for Abstracts for the Fall 2026 Resident and Medical Students Poster Symposium, taking place September 19, 2026. 

VIRTUAL ROUND: June 15, 2026 – August 17, 2026

At the conclusion of the preliminary round of competition, scores will be tabulated to determine the finalists. The finalists will be notified and invited to present their poster in-person for the finals round. We anticipate sending these finalist notifications on August 31, 2026. 

FINALS ROUND:
IN PERSON: September 19, 2026 at the PBCMS Residents & Medical Students Poster Symposium at The FAU College of Medicine, Boca Raton Fl.

YOUR SUBMISSION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS: 

1. Written abstract as a PDF with only abstract title.  DO NOT include author names or institutional affiliations in the saved PDF version.
2. A Completed and Signed Disclosure form.

Abstract Submission Checklist:

• Abstract is no more than 450 words, free from grammatical errors and does not contain graphs, photos or references
• Abstract is submitted in the correct category and as a PDF
• Abstract is submitted by the first author
• All additional authors are listed (Limited to 3 authors)
• Correct Email address is used (further communication will be through the primary author email) 

Eligibility

DO I HAVE TO BE A PBCMS MEMBER TO SUBMIT A POSTER?

• Medical Students – Yes, you must be a current, active PBCMS member and be enrolled at a Florida Medical or Osteopathic School. 
• Residents – Yes, the first author must be a PBCMS Resident/Fellow member and be enrolled in a residency program within the state of Florida.

Additional Information & FAQs

Criteria for Selection: Research abstracts should contain the background, research question, protocol, methods, results, and conclusions. The research can be either basic science or clinical research. Clinical vignettes should be pertinent and timely.  Notification by e-mail of abstract application acceptance will be sent via email by August 31, 2026. 

Content and Ethical Considerations: Posters are intended to convey a scientific result and may not contain advertisements for commercial interests, products or services. Please read and complete the attached Disclosure Form. The members of the Poster Symposium Selection Committee and the PBCMS Executive Committee reserve the right to deny any application that, in their opinion, is deemed promotional, commercial or unethical. 

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF MY ABSTRACT WAS SELECTED FOR COMPETITION?

All first authors will receive notification of Abstracts selected for the competition. We anticipate sending these notifications approximately August 31, 2026.

IF MY ABSTRACT IS SELECTED FOR THE FINAL IN PERSON ROUND AND I AM NOT ABLE TO ATTEND ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2026, WHO MAY PRESENT MY POSTER?

If you will not be able to present your poster, it may be presented by a co-author with the following conditions:

• The co-author must be listed on your original abstract submission
• The co-author must be a PBCMS member
• The co-author must not be presenting another poster. (Each resident or medical student may present only ONE poster)
